Safety Specialist


Job Summary:

Reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Logistics and Safety. Assists the Safety Coordinator with Cerapedics’ company safety policies and procedures, as well as the implementation and monitoring of company safety practices.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Safety Coordinator with implementing and enforcing safety policies and practices that meet OSHA and other applicable safety requirements.
  • Provides Safety training to employees as needed.
  • Conducts facility safety checks and monitors safety equipment and safety inventory needs.
  • Conducts inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions.
  • Ensures that Cerapedics complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
  • Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events.
  • Responsible for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, and other safety related activities as needed.
  • Performs safety observations and provides any necessary safety related actions while hazardous job duties are being performed (i.e. scissor lift usage, welding, power tool operations).

Education or Formal Training Required

  • 2 Years prior experience performing a safety role preferred.

Qualifications Required: (knowledge, skills, abilities, initiative, judgment, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • 30-Hour OSHA General Industry Safety Course preferred.

  • This position requires the incumbent to operate office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination.
  • Moderate Supervision
