Job Summary:

The Program Manager will be responsible for the identification, prioritization, planning, and execution of strategic commercial projects within the Strategy Group. This position will be responsible for managing matrixed resources to ensure programs meet their agreed upon milestones and deliverables. Lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies for new product development and successful commercialization. Represent the program to the organization, reports core team progress, program recommendations, risks, and resolutions of issues to senior leadership.

This position reports to Vice President, Strategy Global Upstream Marketing and Analytics and ensures adherence to master plans and schedules, develops solutions to program problems, and directs work of incumbents assigned to program from various departments. Ensures projects are completed on time and within the scope of the project. Acts as advisor to the program team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead core teams towards program objectives.
  • Lead activities across numerous functions to meet the objectives of a given program including scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Establish and maintain the program and product Design History File.
  • Manage and implement short and long-term plans to ensure programs are in place to meet business objectives and ensure alignment and coordination with appropriate functional partners.
  • Develops plans with core members to eliminate and/or mitigate risk. If risks cannot be mitigated within the core team, determines appropriate means to communicate and elevate issues to appropriate individuals within the organization.
  • Communicates with all levels of the organization, from Sales Reps to the President to represent the objectives, risks, and needs for the program.
  • Develop and maintain a system for identifying and prioritizing strategic projects .
  • Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing the strategy team’s tasks and facilitating successful, on-time execution.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g., compliance with FDA, EEO regulations, etc.)
  • Complete understanding of a wide application of project management principles, theories & concepts.
  • Communicates and implements the strategic and technical direction for the project/program team.

Education or Formal Training Required:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years Leading projects in a medical device, biomedical or high technology industry.
  • MBA or ME preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
  • Ability to engage and influence cross-functional colleagues, even without direct reporting relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mobilize key stakeholders and engage leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
  • MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
